30 Weeks!

Hi everyone,
Well yesterday I had my 30 week appointment, which went well. It was pretty run-of-the-mill with the nurses checking my blood pressure, weight gain, etc. My blood pressure was great, 114/75 so the nurses were happy considering it has been very low most of my pregnancy. I've also gained 25 pounds so far, which is average. With temperatures in the mid 90s everyday and the heat index in the 100s, carrying an additional 25 pounds is not fun. All I have to say is thank goodness for air conditioning! :) My next appointment will be in another 4 weeks so hopefully everything goes well between now and then! Both Greg and I are getting really excited about the birth of our baby girl. We can't wait to meet her and hold her!

In other news, we've been very lucky in escaping the tropical storms and hurricanes thus far (knock on wood). Yesterday one of the nurses asked me if I had heard about the woman who gave birth twice in hurricane shelters...once for Katrina and this time for Gustav. I hadn't heard the story nor did I really want to hear it because now I have one more thing to worry about! Keep your fingers crossed that the rest of hurricane season calms down and that Southwest Florida is safe!

Kim

Baby's Room!

Hi there,

We have made significant progress in the nursery so I thought I'd share some pictures with everyone. We aren't completely finished, I still have a few finishing touches that I need to complete but we are in really good shape. Enjoy!

Here's a close-up of the bedding and another view of the crib.

Here are pictures of the rocker and the window valance.

Here are pictures of the changing table. If you look closely, you'll see Chloe!

Check back soon for more pictures!

3rd Trimester!

Hi everyone,
It seems like just yesterday that Greg and I find out that I was pregnant! Can you believe I'm already in the 3rd trimester?! Time sure does fly when you're having fun! I had a doctor appointment this past Monday where they tested me for gestational diabetes. I tested negative for it but found out that I'm anemic. After doing some research, I found out that about 50% of pregnant women are anemic so it's not that uncommon. I'm starting to take iron pills so that should help. I will also supplement the pills with foods that are high in iron. :) I found out that I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks...WOW! I've been so hungry lately so the baby and I must be going through a growth spurt. It concerned me at first to know I gained so much in just 4 weeks but I'm not going to let it bother me. I want to make sure our baby is well-nourished and healthy! I've been continuing to walk 4 times a week which will hopefully help me have an easier labor and delivery!

In other news, we've ordered the baby's furniture and it should arrive next week. We'll be busy painting and getting everything ready so be sure to check back on the progress!

We hope you all have a great weekend!
Love,
Kim and Greg (and baby girl)

Baby Love!

Hi everyone,

Sorry it has been a while since I last wrote. Last weekend, Greg and I actually went to Chicago. Since we got married there and have a lot of family and friends there, it only seemed appropriate to have a baby shower there! It was really good to be back and to see everyone! Everyone is so excited for Greg and I, and for our baby girl. She's so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends full of BABY LOVE! It was a beautiful shower so I want to thank my mom and mother-in-law for being such wonderful hostesses.

Here are pictures of my beautiful aunts and my adorable cousin, Jenna! It was so good to see you guys!

Here are some pictures of the gorgeous gifts...I love the t-shirt!

Here's a picture of my sister-in-law and soon-to-be-aunt, Jillian, and I.

Greg and I want to thank everyone for their generosity! We are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends!

The Dog Days of Summer!

Hi everyone,
We hope you're all doing well and enjoying the summer. It seems like it's always summer down here in Southwest Florida! Today was especially hot so we decided to head to my in-laws' pool to cool off. Chloe, our fur baby, decided to partake in the action as well! Here are a few pictures...

In other news, I had another doctor appointment this past week. So far I have gained 12 pounds! My blood pressure was pretty low, 9o-something/50-something but the doctor didn't seem too worried. I guess I'm pretty relaxed and enjoying life! :)

We have a few more things ready for the nursery and I'm getting really excited for the end product. I hope it turns out as nicely as I envision it! Check back soon for pictures of the progress.

Enjoy the dog days of summer!
Love,
Kim (and Chloe)

Kids Say the Darndest Things!

Hi everyone,
We hope you had a Happy 4th of July! Greg and I went to a Fort Myers Miracle game (minor league baseball team) with his parents and after the game they had a great fireworks show. Our baby girl was doing what felt like karate while the fireworks were going off. I hope she wasn't too scared of the noise!

As you can see, my belly is growing at a rapid pace! Today when I was at Target (during one of my many trips since I've been in "nesting mode") a mom walked by with her three little boys. As they passed by me, one of them said, "Look mom, that girl has a watermelon under her shirt!" At first I had the urge to look around to see who they were talking about until I realized they were talking about ME! The mom didn't say anything and I was in total shock. I guess now I know first-hand what it means when people say, Don't kids say the darndest things!

Love,
Kim
